My water broke at 1:00 p.m. Thursday and after 15 minutes of pushing he was born that night! My labor and delivery was easy and the most wonderful experience. I couldn't have asked for it any other way! My milk came in right under 48 hours afterwards and he is a great nurser. Everything has been totally opposite than it was with Ethan and I feel so incredibly blessed to have such a positive experience the second time around.

Polished Mama Review & Giveaway

What woman doesn't love freshly painted nails? Spring is here and it's time to start taking extra special care of nails and adding a splash of color. Traditional nail polishes contain toxins such astoluene, xylene, formaldehyde, acetone, or dibutyl phthalate. Did you know that some of these toxins are used in products such as paint thinners that we would never think about exposing to our skin? These toxins cause more than just headaches, some are endocrine disruptors which is very serious pregnant or not! For those of us who are pregnant some of us choose to forgo using nail polish during our pregnancy because of the harsh chemicals that are in regular nail polish. However, we no longer have to go without pretty nails for the summer (or for the delivery room!) with the non toxic nail polish by Polished Mama!

Polished Mama sent me a variety of their products to try out. I received a bottle of the Polished Mama Moisturizing Remover, The Polished Mama Protection System: Base Coat and Top Coat, and a bottle of the Polished Mama nail polish in the Craving color. I haven't painted my toes since I became pregnant because I didn't want to use the chemical laden regular nail polish. Needless to say my feet were ready for a little pampering before baby's arrival. So at 37 weeks pregnant I gave myself a pedicure with Polished Mama products! After the prep work I applied one layer of base coat, then two layers of Craving and finished with a top coat layer. All of the polishes went on smoothly and dried quickly. The Polished Mama nail polishes are amazing because there is no strong chemical smell! I was able to sit in the comfort of my living room with the rest of the family while I painted away. In the past when I used traditional nail polishes I would have to hide away in the bathroom (and breathe the fumes by myself!) so my toddler wasn't around to breathe them. My first Polished Mama pedicure looked great.

Two and a half weeks later I decided to take off the old polish and re-do. I only had little chips in the paint on the very end of a couple of toes otherwise it still looked great. I used the Polished Mama Moisturizing Remover to get off the nail polish. This is a safe gentle remover that you don't have to worry about using. It also contains aloe vera and vitamin E to keep your nails healthy as you wipe away the polish. The Moisturizing Remover smelled wonderful and it worked great. However, it did take a bit more remover to get off the nail polish compared to regular nail polish removers. I know that is because the ingredients are not harsh so this is perfectly fine with me.


I am very impressed with the quality of the Polished Mama products. It is strange to think that so many companies use chemicals in their nail polishes that are so harmful to our bodies (and to our babies in our tummies!) when they can develop a safe nail polish like Polished Mama products that work just as well!

I love unique baby gifts, but I also want them to be affordable. I love adding organic baby products  to our home for our newborn that is arriving any day now. If you have been following my blog for a while now you will know I believe organic products are important especially for our babies and children.  These organic baby accessories are so soft. The bib and burpee are made of a waffle-weave type fabric which is perfect for wiping up messes. The wash clothes are constructed from a nice thicker cotton material and are such a handy size for washing a newborn. I love having the basket as a keepsake and it's the perfect size for storing the few pairs of mittens and newborn hats inside the dresser.

I was also sent the Shoe Pod in the Hoodie Owl Print. The Shoe Pod features 8 generous sized pockets to store shoes and other baby accessories. This Shoe Pod has been such a handy item to own! Before I kept shoes in the dresser, but there really wasn't enough room to keep them in there plus it just wasn't easy to keep them organized. I was able to put all the newborn shoes in my Shoe Pod and hang it in the closet. I love the boyish print on the Shoe Pod and it is made of strong, thick material so I know it will last for a long time. I'm now convinced that every mom needs a Shoe Pod for their baby!

Bump 2 Baby Pregnancy Update: 40 Weeks

Today is my 'official' due date with my doctor! The ultrasound showed April 3rd, but April 5th was my edd originally given by my doctor. Unless there is more than a 5 day difference in dates they don't change them. 

I skipped week 39 update, but I did take a picture. Nothing was still going on, but from then until now a lot has been going on. All you have to do is look at the difference in the pictures! Seriously, there is no way he can 'drop' any further. There's no doubt I'll be having this baby this week!

Bump 2 Baby Pregnancy Update: 38 Weeks

Not much to report. Saw my doctor Thursday, but she didn't even check me so I have no clue if there is anything going on. However, I highly doubt it. I go back this Wednesday and she is supposed to check me because she will be out of town next weekend! I know it was all in my head, but I swear I felt a lot of pressure when the super moon rose last night. Today he's sitting right on my bladder and well....there's just pressure there now that hasn't been there before. I've got more things done on my list, but I still have a few more so I better get to it this week!

I successfully breastfed Ethan until he was 15 months old, but I had to overcome huge issues during the first few weeks of breastfeeding. I am ready to breastfeed my next baby who is due practically any day now that I am 38 weeks along in my pregnancy.

The My Brest Friend Pillow is completely different from the other popular brand nursing pillow. I had the other brand of nursing pillow with Ethan and really despised it. It constantly slid down my lap and Ethan would fall down into the crevice. The worst thing is that I was constantly hunched over Ethan during a feeding. Needless to say it was not great for my back. What I like about the My Brest Friend Pillow is that it provides full body support while nursing. This firm foam pillow wraps around the waist and has a clip to keep it from slipping while the back rest helps you maintain the proper posture and eases any back pain. The wrap around feature gives arm and elbow support. All of these features I find so comforting and I know will help make my nursing experience much more comfortable. Another plus of this pillow is the variety of slip covers available and the convenient pocket on the front to keep a burp cloth and nipple cream close at hand.

I also received an adjustable nursing stool. Now owning one of these nursing stools I believe it is a definite must have nursing tool! I am keeping this one in our living room by the couch. Our couches are really deep and even though I'm 5' 7" my feet still don't touch the ground. It makes it really difficult to nurse sitting on our couch. The stool is the right height and I am able to sit on the couch comfortably. This still is extremely well made and after it is used for a nursing stool it can be used for a toddler step stool. I love multi-functioning products!

I was also sent a bottle of each of the My Brest Friend Nursing Vitamins & Supplements: The Breastfeeding Essentials, Omega-3 Lemon Fish Oils and Fenugreek. I am currently reading a book about the importance of taking vitamins & supplements and eating a healthy diet especially during the post partum period. I will be writing a short review of the book in a few days and I hope you will read it. It is critical to continue taking vitamins after having a baby and especially if you are nursing. I find the My Brest Friend Supplements are a great line to use during this time. The Fenugreek is specifically for boosting your milk supply. I had difficulty with my supply during the first 3 months after Ethan was born, but I don't believe I was taking enough Fenugreek to see if it would work. I am happy to have a bottle of Fenugreek on hand to start taking as soon as Cole is born.    

In my opinion My Brest Friend Nursing Products are top notch and offer the best in nursing support. I really wish I had done more research in nursing pillows especially before Ethan was born and I would have had a more comfortable nursing experience. Real Nappies Cloth Diapers Review & Giveaway

Cloth diapering with prefolds and covers is my favorite option for newborns. It not only contains messes well in the diaper, but it is also the most inexpensive option to cloth diapering a newborn. Real Nappies has created prefold and cover systems to fit from newborn through toddler that is inexpensive. Their products even come with a "Two-Child Guarantee", promising the materials on their systems will last through 2 children or they will replace them!

How the Real Nappies Systems Work

A Real Nappies System is composed of 3 pieces, the waterproof diaper cover, the cotton prefold and the bioliner diaper liner. The waterproof cover is made of PUL fabric to keep the wetness in and clothes dry. The cover only needs to be washed when soiled and it dries very quickly. The cotton prefold is made from a highly absorbent all natural materials. In fact, the cotton has undergone rigorous testing to be checked for over 100 harmful substances. The bioliner diaper liner is a flushable and biodegradable liner to allow moisture to seep through to the prefold below, but keep messes on top of the liner making it easier to dispose of.

Our Real Nappies Experience!
I received a Real Nappies Intro Pack in the Newborn Size to try out on Cole. Obviously I haven't had a chance to try it out on him yet since we are still waiting on his grand arrival. However, I am getting his stash of cloth diapers together and I am excited about adding a Real Nappies pack to it. 

Prefolds and covers are my favorite option in cloth diapering newborns for several reasons. First of all the always seem to contain messes the best. Second, the cotton prefolds help newly sensitive bottoms from developing diaper rashes much less than using other types of cloth diapers made from man made materials. Third, prefolds and covers wash up very clean and I hardly ever hear parents having stink issues with them.

Once I received my intro pack I opened it up to check it out. I love the thickness of the cover and how stretchy the waist and legs are. My former newborn covers were nothing like the Real Nappies Snug Wrap and left red marks on Ethan's legs. I can tell that this cover will really fit much better.  The prefold is super soft and it wash up nicely. Folded up it fits great in the cover. The intro pack also includes one bioliner which I'm interested in trying out. 

Overall the Real Nappies System looks great and I really can't wait to try it out on Cole (he just needs to hurry up and arrive!). I will be sharing how the Real Nappies System works on him after he's here so keep your eye out for that post!

Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker Review & Giveaway

Just the thought of making baby food may seem daunting and messy to some parents. However, one step baby food maker like the Baby Brezza makes it so fast and simple to whip up a batch of fresh yummy food in no time.

The Baby Brezza is a small steamer and blender that is just the right size for making batches of baby food. This convenient baby food maker will steam then automatically blend the food. Since the Baby Brezza does it all you won't have to dirty up your cooking pots and food processor just to make a small batch of baby food. Your options for recipes are practically limitless for any age of baby or toddler. You can make a simple batch of applesauce for your 6 month old or something more exotic for your toddler with lamb or turkey. Our Baby Brezza Experience and a recipe!
I made all of Ethan's baby foods from scratch with organic fruits and veggies. However, sometimes it was a pain to dirty up a couple pots and my food processor when making baby food. Even though my food processor is small it still had a difficult time blending up the food completely smooth which was another negative aspect of making baby food this route.

Baby Brezza sent me one of their one step baby food makers to try out and I couldn't have been more excited! I created my own recipe which turned out super yummy and want to share.

Berrylicious Pears
makes five 1/4 cup servings 

1 cup pealed chopped pears
1/2 cup sliced strawberries
1/4 cup blueberries

Did you know that blueberries are the healthiest berry you can eat? This is a great way to introduce blueberries to your little one especially if you think he/she would not eat them on their own. Make sure to use organic berries since they are sprayed heavily with pesticides and their thin skins can not protect themselves. I keep frozen organic berries on hand at all times for smoothies so I put them frozen directly in the Baby Brezza.

First you fill the bowl with water to the 160ml measurement marked on the front.

Pour the water into the steam chamber lid and close.  

Add your prepared fresh fruits and secure the bowl into the bottom and snap lid into place.

Press the "Steam Only" button until it 15 minutes is lite up. I chose "Steam Only" so I could check to make sure there wasn't too much liquid after steaming and control how much I wanted it blended. Then press the "Start" button and it will begin steaming.

After it steams a timer will go off.

I pressed the "Blend" button until I had the desired consistency. I wanted this to be chunky so I didn't blend for long. You would want to blend longer if it's for a baby or younger toddler.

This recipe was great warm or cold. It's super sweet and so tasty, it's hard to believe there is no added sugar either! Ethan really enjoyed eating it and I doubt any baby wouldn't like it.

Baby Brezza has created a nifty storage cup and tray system to refrigerate or freeze  the baby food batches. It makes it a breeze to store and to reheat and defrost directly in your Baby Brezza when you are ready to serve your little one.

Overall I loved using the Baby Brezza. It made it so much easier to make up a batch of baby food and with no mess! This little machine is going to be getting a lot of use in our house.

Bump 2 Baby Pregnancy Update: 37 Weeks

These last few weeks I'm doing a photo each week. Comparing photos from the last 2 weeks it doesn't look like I've dropped any. I didn't have a doctors appointment this week either although I really don't think there is any changes other than my pants getting tighter! ack! I have an appointment on Thursday and I'll be close to 38 weeks. In the mean time, I'm hanging in there. Or should I say Cole is still hanging in? haha!

Kolcraft WonderBug Activity Center Review & Giveaway

Owning an activity center for your baby can be a life saver. This fun, interactive toy will keep your baby safely occupied while you cook dinner, unload the dishwasher or some other task that requires both your hands and full attention. Kolcraft just recently put out on the market their newest activity center featuring the WonderBug.

As a Kolcraft Mom I had the opportunity to try out the new WonderBug Activity Center. This is such a super cute, bright and colorful activity center. It's also light weight and easy to move around the house which is a plus if you typically use it in more than one room in your home. The WonderBug is loaded with a variety of toys that rattle, play music and flash lights. The seat spins 360 degrees so baby can easily access all the toys and snack tray is located in the back of the activity center.

On this activity center the height is adjusted by the belt at the bottom of the seat. The seat also detaches easily if it needs to be washed. Another great aspect of this activity center is ability to break it down easily to store or to travel with. Simply press the green buttons on each of the legs to detach.

The top of the WonderBug fits nicely into the base for portability. This is my favorite feature of the WonderBug because many other activity centers do not break down this easily (or break down at all) for better storage making it a difficult item to store away when no longer in use.

Overall, I really like the WonderBug Activity Center. It's very sturdy and offers plenty to keep a baby entertained. I'm looking forward to letting Cole try it out in about 4 months. In the meantime, Ethan has really enjoyed playing with the toys on the WonderBug and it has keep him entertained :-)
