Bump 2 Baby: Pregnancy Update, 3 months

Seems like the 2nd month dragged on! That's probably because it was the time nausea really peeked! I am so grateful that the nausea has substantially diminished during the last week. I'm now having more heart burn than nausea now, but I'll take that anyday. A Pepcid AC works well for that :-) The last few days I have been starving! Really I have to eat about every 2 hours and I have to have a good amount of protein. I'm still having lots of insomnia from around 2 to 4 am. I get up for a snack and a huge glass of water as well during that time because I'm...starving again lol. What else?

About 3.5 weeks ago I hurt my foot really bad after a 3 mile run. I was fine after my run, but the next several days my foot hurt so bad like I did more than just pull something. It was on the outside of my foot, where I have never had any issues. I had to slack off on the running for a while and also got some anti-inflammatory cream for it and finally it got better. I ran 2 miles the other day and was fine, so I'm crossing my fingers that I won't have trouble with it again. I really want to stay as active as long as I can, but at the same time I don't want to severely injure myself!

I had my monthly appointment last week and heard the baby's heartbeat on the doppler for the first time. Baby's heartbeat was in the 150s. I did not write down what Ethan's was at that time, but I'm thinking it was 160s. I go back the end of this month and then the "Big Ultrasound" should be scheduled right after! So I'm thinking in about one month we should know what baby #2 is :-) I can't wait!

I have been doing a lot of thinking about what kind of birth I want this time around and I'm seriously considering hiring a doula. I got a recommendation from my doctor, which turned out to be the same doula a friend of mine used.
Has anyone used a doula? What was your experience?

You look great. Praying for your foot, that you don't hurt it again. I can't wait to hear what you are having.

I almost had a doula for my VBAC, but my hubby was kind of freaked out about the idea. I did have my sister, mom and hubby, so another person might have been overwhelming. I would recommend one. What was your birth like the first time?

You look wonderful! I really wish I could have been active this last pregnancy, but with all the complications there was no way. I'm really glad you have been able to though! I miss being pregnant just reading your post. I told hub just now that I wanted another baby... I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Hey lady! My friend had a doula, present in the hospital for natural birth with a water tub(NOT a water birth, just the tub for labor). She loved it! If you like and trust your doula, I think it is a great thing. Just depends on if you like that person and want her there to help you through it.
As for your foot. Either you got a stress fracture(boo.... but not really likely after just 3 miles and you've hardly gained any weight) but most likely a strain in one of the muscles that, believe it or not, hooks to your little toe! This can happen as you change your gait pattern with the advancement of the pregnancy. IF it happens again, soak with Epsom salts 15 -20 min, use the cream and also do some self-massage -- I bet you will find lots of sore spots but just keep rubbing til they are gone. You will have to do it several days. Check your shoes(old? too new? different brand?) and be sure to switch slant of the road as you are running - ie if you run OUT facing traffic, make sure you run back WITH traffic(I know not as safe, but better for your body). :)

Hey, Chari! I didn't have a doula at the hospital, but I knew a woman who helped me a lot before I gave birth. I read some books she gave me and listened to what she said, hints, helps, etc. I found it helpful. Not sure about having one at the hospital (for me personally) but then again, my mom and Josh were AWESOME. Also, having the mindset of "I am going to do this naturally" (barring a medical issue) is a MUST. Is Andrew for natural birth this time? (I guess I am assuming that's why you want the doula.) From what the doula told me, it's really helpful to start the relationship as early as possible, it helps you during the actual delivery. Hope you figure out what works for you!! So excited!
