Sesame Street Live Presents Elmo's Healthy Heroes {Review}

Photobucket
Ethan absolutely loves Elmo, it's one of his favorite characters. In fact we've already decided his 3rd birthday will be Elmo themed. When I recently heard that Sesame Street Live show this year was called Elmo's Healthy Heroes and that the main character was centered around Ethan's  beloved red, furry friend I knew he would be thrilled to go see it.

The Storyline:
PhotobucketWhen Super Grover loses his superness, Sesame Street needs a hero! Never fear, Elmo and his team of Healthy Heroes are here. Teaching lessons of healthy habits through song and dance, Elmo, Abby Cadabby and your favorite Sesame Street friends will explore exercise, nutrition, sleep/energy and hygiene – all in a quest to put the “super” back in Super Grover. It’s Elmo’s Healthy Heroes to the rescue!
Elmo's Healthy Heroes is playing at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK March 10-13th. We were able to see the evening show on March 11th. This was my first time to go to any event at the BOK Center and I must say I was really impressed. All of the staff from the ticket booth to the ushers were all friendly and very helpful. At 37 weeks pregnant, my stomach is very large and getting around can be a challenge. I was pleasantly surprised when an usher came to me before the show to let me know there was a nearby restroom and elevator near by to make it easier for me. I thought the offer was sweet and appreciated the thoughtful gesture.

We had seats on the floor in the "Gold Circle" which turned out to be excellent seats to have during the show. Ethan was able to sit in his seat through most the show and see everything going on with no problem. The show was captivating and full of energy from the moment it started until it ended. Elmo and all his friends danced and sang throughout the show. It also kept the kids undivided attention because of the interactive songs and dancing. Since we were seated in the floor section it really allowed lots of kids to get out in the middle of the wide aisle to dance and follow what the characters were wanting them to do. It was so fun to watch Ethan and all the kids trying to follow the motions the characters were asking them to preform. After each song Ethan enthusiastically clapped his hands and said, "yay!"

Throughout the show the characters would periodically leave the stage to make a round by the audience in the floor seated section. Kids were loving this as they got to shake hands, hug and touch their favorite Sesame Street friends. Poor Ethan was pretty shy of the large costumed characters and didn't want to reach out to any of them. The shooting confetti during the show was also a huge hit with all the kids and there was much reaction over this!

Overall, the story line of Elmo's Healthy Heroes was very uplifting and was positive. Elmo and his friends learn how to overcome fears and help others individually and as a team for a better outcome of the situation. The show was put together very well to incorporate these basic principles and make it fun, interactive entertainment for kids. We're so thankful we had the opportunity to take Ethan to see Elmo's Healthy Heroes and look forward to seeing more Sesame Street Live shows in the future.

If you live around the Tulsa area, there are still tickets available for purchase for the showings going on through March 13th. You can see the schedule and purchase tickets from the BOK Center website. However, if you don't live in the Tulsa area you can check out the main Sesame Street Live website to see when Elmo's Healthy Heroes or a different Sesame Street Live show is coming to your town.

I am nearly 23-years-old and I have wonderful memories (and pictures) of seeing Sesame Street Live when I was about 3? Although the memory has faded a bit over the past 5-10 years, it is by far one of my sweetest childhood memories. I will never forget how absolutely engulfed in pure happiness I was, and how amazing it was to share it with my mom and grandparents.

It's coming to 2 places near us! Unfortunately, the first is 2 hrs away in the middle of the week & the second is on a weekend we have to go visit the in-laws. :( too bad because I'm sure Tate would love it too!

Sounds fun! They never have anything like that around here. I would have to drive 4 hours away to Denver. Bleh! Not gonna happen. Glad you got to go though. :-)
