About The FruitGuys!
Information from website.
Founded in 1998 and headquartered in San Francisco, The FruitGuys has pioneered this fast-growing category that provides viable solutions to the ever-challenging workplace health crisis. The company was founded on the premise that bringing healthy brain food to the office can boost productivity, improve wellness and help companies improve their bottom lines.
The FruitGuys provides fresh seasonal fruit from local farms to thousands of American businesses, from small family-run businesses to major Fortune 500 corporations. The FruitGuys has been called upon by some of the most well-known businesses in the nation, including Littler Mendelson, Yahoo!, Yamaha, VMWare, Wells Fargo, among thousands of other industry leaders.
We consider ourselves fortunate to work with customers who share our ideals about health, the environment, and our communities. The FruitGuys launched our Farm Steward Program in April 2008 to support sustainable small family farming. We donate 88,000 pounds of fresh fruit a year (more than 7,000 pounds a month) to non-profit groups and regional food pantries nationwide, such as Somethin' Fresh. With your support, we sent over 7,000 pieces of fresh fruit to food-banks and programs for families in need over the winter holidays with our Donate-A-Crate Program.
The FruitGuys named one of the fastest-growing services in the US in 2008 and 2009 according to Inc.com.
How The FruitGuys Works!
It’s where you live, work, learn and give: For 12 years we’ve been delivering fresh fruit to offices as a way to help keep employees at worksites healthy. Then it hit us – sure folks spend lots of time at work but staying healthy is about staying consistent – especially with your diet and physical activity. We needed to come up with a way to help people access fruits and veggies in all the places they are during their day. Thus our home, school and gift programs began to bloom. Throughout our website you may see some maps that we ask you to click on to determine what products you see. This is because we believe in trying to localize as much as we can about our fruit and veggie mixes and thus work with different farmers by region (season permitting). You’ll be able to see what’s in your mix by area. We’ve also tried to make it easy for you on an administrative level by creating a structure that allows for standing orders and emailable billings. As always if you have any questions just let us know. Our phone is easy to remember. Just put your fingers together and dial 1-877-FRUIT-ME.
Offices: If you’re at the office and want to replace the unhealthy junk food in your break-room with healthy fruit, or if you just want to add a healthy option for those end of the month birthday celebrations, then our Office fruit program is for you. Learn more about fruit for the office.
Homes: If you’re an individual who is working long hours and would like to shop organically but just don’t have the time, or if you are someone who really doesn’t cook but would like to learn and would like to use ingredients that are healthy and natural then our home or take home delivery program is for you. Learn more about our TakeHome fruit and veggie program.
Schools: If you are a superintendant, a nutrition service provider, a principal or the educator charged with administering the USDA FFVP program, then we encourage you to check out our FFVP program that has been designed to meet the stringent requirements set forth by the USDA. Learn more about The FruitGuys FFVP program.
If you have a college student that you want to send fruit to as a way to keep them healthy at school, learn more about our DormSnack program.
Are you in a PTA or PTO and want to find out how to bring healthy fruit to the class rooms in your school so the kids have a great snack during their day? Contact us at 877-FRUIT-ME or email info@fruitguys.com.
Gifts: Want to send a personal and memorable gift or are you representing a company that wants to customize or co-brand something organic, sustainable and environmentally friendly. Learn more about our gift programs.
The FruitGuys Experience!
As you've read before on my blog about 90% or more of the foods I buy are organic. Our local grocery store (which is a 15 minute drive) does carry a few organic products including produce. However, the produce is very limited. I travel 30 minutes (one way) once a week to Whole Foods to do my grocery shopping. I stock up on produce during my one week trip. With organic produce it is difficult to buy enough to last a whole week without spoiling. When I came across The FruitGuys online I thought it was such a fabulous business! You can live anywhere and get fresh organic produce delivered to your door. No traveling and no hauling kids to the store, brilliant idea! What is even better that you are getting organic produce is that you are eating local, in season fruits and veggies which is the best way to eat.
The FruitGuys generously sent me the large Fruit and Veggie TakeHome Pack. The TakeHome Pack came in a large heavy duty box. This eco-friendly box is made of 75% post-consumer recycled cardboard and printed with soy-based inks. Only the safest materials used to get your fresh organic fruits & veggies to you!
Ethan ready to dig in!
Everything was packed nicely and had no bruising. The whole box smelled divinely of strawberries, they were so ripe! I laid it all out on a tray so I could see what we were sent.
- 2 pears
- 4 Pink Lady apples (my favorite!!)
- 1 grapefruit
- 1 tangerine
- 1 orange
- 2 peaches
- 3 zucchini
- 1 head of iceberg lettuce
- 1 head of orange cauliflower
- several mushrooms
- 3 pieces of rhubarb
- 1 package of basil
- 1 package of strawberries
Overall the quality of the fruits and veggies were great. I think considering the cost of the tray is a good deal especially when you figure in your TIME and MONEY spent on gas going to get these items. Some of these items I can not even get at my Whole Foods such as the orange cauliflower (that I was dying to try out but all WF still carries is conventional!) and rhubarb. This is a great way to get organic produce to you anytime, anywhere.
Stay tuned soon for a yummy smoothie recipe I whipped up with my fresh The FruitGuys strawberries! (hint: you may even get extra entries for commenting about it ;-)
BUY IT! You can purchase directly from The FruitGuys.

Honestly, I do not know which one is in my territory..the central or east coast. Most of Ohio is in the central but I am in southeastern Ohio so it looks like maybe east coast there. Kinda tricky so I can't say for sure. I can tell you that peaches was in both of the boxes so to be safe I will say that..lol.
