Change in Giveaways: Facebook

I just learned today that there has been a change in Facebook Promotions Guidelines as of November 4, 2009 which can be read here. Basically, no promotion can be conducted or promoted on Facebook without their written consent. The ones that are approved will cost the advertiser some serious cash. I know this is a huge hit to businesses (especially small ones!) and to us bloggers.

I am deleting my Fan page from Facebook Monday, November 16, 2009 to keep from overstepping these guidelines and also to show I disapprove of their new guidelines as it will hurt businesses.

I am taking off the extra entries on my current giveaways for becoming a Fan of Take Time to Smell the Rose or for becoming a Fan of any sponsoring company on Facebook. There will be no extra entries for any future giveaways on Take Time to Smell the Rose.

Please help spread the word to other bloggers as I have noticed many are still putting up giveaways mentioning Facebook and offering extra entries for becoming Fans on Facebook.
